HOUSESTAFF

For cleaners

Get work and get paid

HOUSESTAFF is built cleaner-first. You set your rate, you choose your hours, and you keep 90% of every job — instead of a platform that takes a third of your work and pushes you to undercut yourself.

Why HOUSESTAFF

Fair fees, and tools that respect your time

The economics matter, but so does not spending your evenings on admin.

10% commission — that's it

No subscription, no lead fees, no paying to bid for work. You see exactly what you take home before you accept a job.

Your rate, your diary

You set your hourly rate, the services you offer and the hours you actually want to work. Nobody prices you, and nobody assigns you jobs.

Less admin, more cleaning

Bookings, messages, property notes and earnings live in one app. No chasing invoices over WhatsApp, no cash at the door.

Clients who come back

Homes on HOUSESTAFF hold their own instructions, so a repeat clean is easier for everyone. Build a regular round you can rely on.

Your reputation travels with you

Verified badges, real reviews and a completed-jobs count sit on your profile. Good work compounds instead of disappearing.

You get paid, every time

The customer pays up front and the money is held until the job is done. No awkward conversations about an unpaid clean.

The numbers

What you actually take home

No percentages buried in a help article. Here is a typical three-hour clean, in full.

Example

3 hours at an £18 hourly rate you set yourself

Cleaning value
£54.00
HOUSESTAFF commission (10%)
−£5.40
You receive
£48.60

The customer also pays a £1 booking fee, which does not come out of your share. Figures are an illustration — you set your own rate, so your numbers are yours.

Joining

From download to first booking

Most of it is on you and your schedule. The verification step is the one that takes a little patience.

  1. 1

Download and choose 'I am a cleaner'

Takes a minute. You can look around the app before committing to anything.

  2. 2

    Get verified

We check your identity and require a DBS check before you can accept bookings. It is what lets customers trust whoever turns up — including you.

  3. 3

    Set your rate and availability

Choose your hourly rate, the areas you cover, the services you offer and the hours you want. Change any of it whenever you like.

  4. 4

    Accept the work you want

Requests come to you with the address, the hours and your take-home shown up front. Accept, decline, or message first.

  5. 5

    Clean, complete, get paid

Mark the job complete in the app and your share is released to your bank account.

What you need

Before you can accept your first job

Nothing unusual, but we check all of it — it is the reason customers trust the person at the door.

  • You are 18 or over and have the right to work in the UK
  • Photo ID for identity verification
  • A DBS check — we will walk you through it if you do not have one
  • Public liability insurance appropriate to the work you take on
  • A UK bank account in your name for payouts
  • A smartphone with a working camera, for photo notes and receipts

FAQ

The questions cleaners actually ask

Including the ones other platforms would rather bury.

Am I employed by HOUSESTAFF?

No. You are self-employed and running your own business. You choose which jobs to accept, when you work and what to charge. That also means you are responsible for your own income tax and National Insurance — HOUSESTAFF does not deduct anything at source.

How much does it actually cost me?

10% of the cleaning value on completed jobs, and nothing else. No monthly fee, no charge for your profile, and no fee for declining work. The £1 booking fee is paid by the customer, not by you.

When do I get paid?

The customer pays when they book and the funds are held until the clean is marked complete. Your share is then released to the bank account on your profile and usually clears within a few working days.

Who pays for the DBS check?

You do, and it stays yours — a DBS certificate is portable, so it is useful beyond HOUSESTAFF. If you already hold a current one you can use it, and we will tell you exactly what we need before you spend anything.

Do I really need insurance?

Yes. Public liability cover protects you if something is damaged in a customer's home, and it is standard for anyone cleaning professionally. Ours is a requirement, not a recommendation — customers can ask to see it.

What if a customer cancels?

Inside the notice window shown on the booking, cancellation is free for the customer. Outside it, a cancellation charge is payable to you so a last-minute drop-out does not leave you out of pocket for a slot you held.

Can I bring someone with me, or send a substitute?

Only if the customer agrees in advance through the app. It is their home, so they need to know who is coming — and it keeps everyone's insurance valid.

Can I take my regulars off the platform?

We would rather earn the fee. Taking work introduced on HOUSESTAFF off the platform breaks our terms, and it loses you the protections that go with an in-app booking — guaranteed payment, a record of the job, and support if something goes wrong.
